When moisture enters the platen, there are chances of water-hammer and puncturing of the platens during start-up. Thus, Moisture Separator should be installed on steam supply line to make steam, moisture-free. Also an individual Pressure Reducing Valve would make steam dry and available at the desired pressure. Why should Thermodynamic Traps not be installed on tyre curing platen presses? The Thermodynamic Steam Traps are specifically designed for draining steam heaters and steam lines, they have low capacities and intermittent discharge characteristics. Also there is no air venting or steam lock release facilities. All these disadvantages lead to water logging of system space and inefficient heating results in increased process timing and excess steam consumption. In this situation a Ball Float Steam Trap Module would be most suitable. Why is individual steam trapping necessary and not a single steam trap on the complete platen? Group trapping can only work, if the pressure in each drying range is exactly equal. Even if the using applications are supplied with the same pressure, the steam pressure at each steam trap can never be exactly the same, because of different heat transfer rates. Due to this there is varied condensate and pressure changes. This different pressure leads back to improper removal of condensate when group trapped. Also, due to improper condensate removal, there is temperature differential across the platen. Due to this, there is improper heating of material and the rejection rate increases.
