Consumption norms
The pulp and paper is highly energy intensive industry. The energy consumption
of the pulp and paper industry is worth Rs. 15000 million, equivalent to
27 * 106 Giga Cals/Year. (As on 2000-01)
The
overall specific energy consumption norms, for large integrated paper plants,
producing writing and printing paper, using 100% wood pulp based sulphate process,
should be as follows:
- Steam:
8.00 tons/ton of finished paper

Power: 1300 kWh/ton of finished paper
- Water:
100 m3/ton of finished paper
